You may know that Dr. Terry Wahls extols the virtues of cod liver oil as part of her renowned protocol, given its nutrient content and omega fatty acids. In fact, she recommends fresh, wild caught and raw Rosita Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil :

“I’d much rather use a product like Rosita that’s been around for many, many generations with great success.”  Dr. Wahls

Why?

Traditional cultures with vibrant health regularly consumed organ meats, especially liver, which included key nutrients that are now nearly absent in even the healthiest of diets.

Many, including Dr. Wahls, enjoy Rosita as it’s a convenient way to get these nutrients without having to eat liver. Rosita boasts naturally occurring vitamins A and D, and a full spectrum of omega fatty acids, including EPA and DHA:

  • It has true vitamin A in retinol form, which means the body can easily absorb and use it (unlike the vitamin A found in plants as beta-carotene). Vitamin A is involved in immune function, vision, reproduction and cellular communication.*
  • Vitamin A also works hand-in-hand with vitamin D, which helps the body absorb calcium to support bone health.*
  • And omega-3 fatty acids are known for reducing inflammation and preserving brain health.*

Rosita is truly unprocessed

It’s also important to note that the way cod liver oil is processed greatly affects its nutritional composition.

If you do the research, you’ll find that commercial cod liver oils are highly processed with heat (molecular distillation) that wipes out the natural vitamins A and D, and damages the fragile omega-3 fatty acids. To make up for the loss, most cod liver oil producers will add synthetic vitamins.

Yet Rosita is the only fresh, wild-caught and raw cod liver oil in the entire world, which means its precious nutrients are unadulterated and pure.

How Rosita is created

Rosita Real Foods is a small, family-run company based in Norway. It’s made up of old-time, genuine Norwegians and fishermen who know all about fish liver oils.

Rosita follows sustainable, hand-caught fishing practices using an open boat with a shelter deck – on the crystal clean waters of the Norwegian Fjords.

Further, Rosita is the only company to hold a patent for its gentle chemical-free and heat-free method to purify the cod liver oil, which was developed with support from the University of Stockholm.

  • Only Rosita uses a rare, generations-old technique that naturally releases the oil from the hand-picked livers (with water at temps akin to the ocean) within 15 minutes. This can only be accomplished with healthy livers from freshly caught cod.
  • Only Rosita’s patent involves an extremely unique method using a natural substance from the ocean that binds to contaminants in the oil, followed by filtering – like decanting a fine wine. This is extremely effective at reducing contaminants, but does not alter or damage the oil’s nutrients in any way.

The finished product has a pale, golden color and a mild, fresh fish taste, and comes in liquid and softgels (made from fish gelatin). For information on where to buy this special cod liver oil, here’s a list of U.S. and international Rosita sellers (https://evclo.com/buy/) .

Tested, true and backed by health experts

Each batch of Rosita is 3rd-party tested in a microbiological laboratory and certified to meet strict European regulations for potency and purity (including heavy metals testing).

Rosita even posts results on its website; something no other cod liver oil producer does (you can view more details here (http://evclo.com/testing/).

Many highly respected practitioners and health leaders also recommend Rosita. Take a look at what they have to say, here. (https://evclo.com/reviews/).

This all means your body will recognize Rosita Extra Virgin Cod Liver Oil as real food – not a processed supplement… all in line with the Wahls Protocol.

Dr. Wahls: This is Dr. Wahls and I’m here with Dan Corrigan, who is from Rosita Real Foods, who is a Wahls Protocol Seminar Sponsor, so I’m really glad to have Dan with us. These partnerships are a great opportunity to share information about the products and devices and services that I use in my everyday life with all of the Wahls warriors out here, because so many people ask me specifically, what is it that you are doing, and how do you do it? So sharing my interview with you helps me teach my tribe how and why I use the various supplements and devices that I do every day as part of my healing journey. And they get to learn about so much wonderful support that we have. So let’s get into this today and we’re going to talk about the intricacies of fish oil and the intricacies of fish oil production, and what is different and unique about Rosita fish oil. So Dan, why don’t we start with your telling us a little bit about yourself.

Dan Corrigan: Yeah, of course. I’d be happy to you. Thanks for having me on. I really appreciate it. Yeah, in my twenties, I had my own healing journey in my twenties, and it’s funny, that’s when you think you should be at the top of your health. And my health was getting worse and worse throughout my twenties and I really became desperate for answers. And so I started going to numerous doctors and I had something that was kind of more… It wasn’t easily defined by the regular medical system as a certain disease or ailment. And anyways, so it took me about 10 years to really kind of recover my health. And what it allowed me to do, I guess, was to take control of my own health versus going to somebody to fix it. So I think that was a big takeaway.

And then the other thing that, during that journey, the other thing that I came to realize was there’s no magic pill. It’s really all about, the main thing is real food. And so it let me do the real food movement, which then led me to Rosita. And so while I was buying food from local farmers or finding raw milk and things like that, I also found a Rosita, which was producing a fresh raw rat fish liver oil, which I’d never even heard about. But the way that they were making it was-

Dr. Wahls: Was so unique.

Dan Corrigan: Unlike anything else on the market.

Dr. Wahls: So tell us a little bit more about Rosita Real Foods, and why Rosita Cod Liver Oil.

Dan Corrigan: Yeah. So I what I did, during my journey of trying to figure all this stuff out was that the cod liver oil in the marketplace, it had to go through different processes and processing, and it was highly processed actually. And so Rosita, they were making a rat fish liver oil that was basically almost like raw milk is fresh, unadulterated. And so anyway, they were doing something unique. And so I actually flew out there five years ago. I’m in the U.S. I represent Rosita in the U.S., and flew out to Rosita, met with the fisherman and really encouraged them to use the same processing techniques for the cod liver oil. And so that’s what they did.

Dr. Wahls: Can you tell us how they produce the cod liver oil and how that’s different from the other products that people are so fond of?

Dan Corrigan: Yep. Yep. So what’s really neat about Rosita and what’s different, it starts with the fact that they control the whole process from fish to bottle. So they come from a line of fisherman, they have their own fishing boats, their own fisherman. They go out, catch their own fish, and then they take great care of that. So one of the key features of making a fresh, raw cod liver oil is to keep the livers cold but not frozen. Since they are able to control the whole process, they can keep the livers at the right temperature and then to release the oil, instead of using heat or other chemical means, to release the oil from the liver, it’s a shift in that temperature from the icy cold water temperature to like almost a room temperature. And so since they’re able to control the whole process, they can extract or collect, is what they like to say, because they’re not fighting with nature, they’re working with nature.

Dr. Wahls: Sure. Now, and that’s really quite different than how a fish oils are produced by other companies. Because a lot of people talk about molecularly distilled as being superior. Do you want to comment why that’s not the case?

Dan Corrigan: Yep. So there’s a lot of terms that people don’t really fully understand or there’s misinformation. And so, one thing people will say, oh, this oil is cold processed, but that really only refers to one step of a 10 step process. And you brought up distillation, and some people will talk about molecular distillation or short path distillation and distillation is an effective means of removing some of the contaminants. But it is really boiling the oil. People are familiar with distilled water, it’s boiling in the water. And so most people would not probably want to have their cod liver oil boiled because what happens is that heat is destroying the vitamin A and D. And the whole reason for taking cod liver oil is to get naturally occurring vitamin A and D, which is harder to get in a diet unless you’re eating liver or organ meats and stuff like that.

Dr. Wahls: Now there are some key nutrients in Rosita. They have more than just Omega-3s. Can you comment on that?

Dan Corrigan: Yeah, for sure. So, yep. Fish oil in general, people take fish oil for the Omega-3 fatty acids, DHA, EPA, which is fantastic. But Cod liver oil as opposed to just regular fish oil, cod liver oil has naturally occurring vitamin A and vitamin D. and, and like I said, those are harder to come by unless you’re really eating organ meats.

Dr. Wahls: Yes, yes. And how can people take Rosita? The taste of liquid cod liver oil is a little intense for some folks.

Dan Corrigan: That’s true. And what we found was, people that have taken other fish oils or cod liver oil, they’re used to taking something that’s a highly refined and so it is more palatable. With Rosita, it’s unadulterated. So there’s nothing is being stripped out. It’s not being heated. So it does have to be a refrigerated to maintain freshness. And then when you take it out of the fridge, you have to shake it up because of the fat. There’s different types of fats in there, and they’ll separate out while it’s cold. And so you have to let it warm up, shake it a little bit, take it. And what we found was after about a week of taking it daily, people are accustomed to the taste. I mean, I have two young boys and they take it, they’ll ask, they’ll ask for seconds.

Dr. Wahls: They take it just fine?

Dan Corrigan: Yeah.

Dr. Wahls: Okay. And there are capsules though too.

Dan Corrigan: Yep. So they make soft gels, which the key feature about the soft gels is, if you’re really, really taste averse to the liquid, the soft gels work great. But the other nice thing about the soft gels is since it’s totally encapsulated, they don’t require refrigeration. So that’s great for people traveling. Nobody wants to be worrying about their liquid cod liver oil spilling in their luggage or anything like that. So soft gels are a great feature because they don’t have to be refrigerated.

Dr. Wahls: And so for the people with autoimmunity, what should we be sure that they know?

Dan Corrigan: Yep. So again, the Rosita Cod Liver Oil, since it’s not heated, retains the naturally occurring vitamin A and D. And so both of those vitamins are well researched and well studied as being nutrients that support a healthy immune system. And again, the Omega-3 fatty acids are great for our brain and since it is unaided, those are in their natural state too. So basically, it’s unlike other supplements. It’s really the way I perceive the Rosita Cod Liver Oil, it’s really a real food supplement versus something that’s processed that might come for some benefits. Rosita, your body’s going to recognize that as a natural food product.
