A guest post from our certified health practitioner Alene Brennan:

Today is your day, Dr. Wahls.

Today is the day that you get to celebrate another year well-lived.

You get to step back and see the amazing work that you have accomplished and all the meaningful relationships you developed over the years.

And because of that, today is also a day for us all to celebrate. Without you, this incredible community of Wahls Warriors wouldn’t exist, nor would our ability to redefine life with MS.

You inspired us to believe in our body’s ability to heal.

You stayed up the late nights to research a better way of living with MS when traditional methods were failing you. You knew there had to be a better way. And you found it.

You took yourself from a wheelchair to a bike ride in one year through diet and lifestyle changes.

Thankfully you didn’t waiver when the criticism started rolling in.

You remained focused on what you knew to be true: food is medicine.

Instead of retreating, you took your messages to the masses through your viral Tedx talk.

More than 3 million people watched Minding Your Mitochondria and it sparked hope for a healthier future for us all. We aren’t victims of this incurable, degenerative disease. We are resilient #WahlsWarriors.

We too have the ability to change the course of MS through the food on our plate.

Our kitchens are now filled with leafy greens, deeply colored and sulfur-rich veggies. We’ve upgraded the quality of our meat and fish. We even ventured into unknown territories of organ meat, fermented foods, and seaweed.

Now we have success stories just like you.

For me, the lesions on my brain went inactive and shrunk within six months. And having attended the Wahls Seminar for four years now, I’ve seen the healing in the broader Wahls community too. Year after year I see Wahls Warrior return having greater mobility, better energy, and even healthier body weight.

Our lives have been transformed because of you, Dr. Wahls.

As if that wasn’t enough, my career has even been transformed because of you.

Because you took the time to train fellow health professionals in your protocol, I was able to dedicate my nutrition coaching practice to support the MS community in adopting the Wahls Protocol.

It’s brought so much meaning to my work and my life, and for that, I’m forever grateful.

So, to the one who has inspired us all – to live a healthier, more meaning life – happy birthday. Thanks to you, we all get to look forward to our birthday every year knowing that we too get to celebrate another year well-lived.

Help me wish Dr. Wahls a happy birthday by sharing below the greatest gift Dr. Wahls has given you!
