The Wahls Protocol® Seminar & Retreat is a live 3-day event with Dr. Terry Wahls and select health and science experts that will help you RECLAIM YOUR LIFE!
Break through the barriers that are limiting the quality of life you desire!
If you have been suffering from chronic pain, exhaustion, poor mood, and/or declining health, this event will transform your life.
You will gain the tools to understand why you became unwell and how to begin repairing your cells and restoring your health.
This event will transform your life. You will learn how to eliminate pain, restore your energy, and return your joy.
I made friends with attendees, presenters and myself. This was a life changing conference attended by some of the smartest most engaging people I've ever met. The lessons learned will be with me for a lifetime and with strict adherence I strongly suspect I too will recover from this chronic condition that has permanently disabled so many.
This Wahls Warrior princess (using the bright red walker) at the seminar thanks ALL of you for restoring my hope!! I have NEVER been in a crowd of such empowered, like-minded people determined to NOT be victims of their disease since I was diagnosed in 2004! Again, THANK YOU and I wish for you nothing but great health and much happiness.
Every day of the conference I laughed, I spent time in deep thought, and I was moved to tears of joy and happiness. Each day was a full day - a heck of a day. It was five days that were incredibly special in my life that I will remember forever.
This is the 5th year of the Wahls Protocol® Seminar. Numerous attendees return year after year to learn about the latest research and to reconnect with their fellow Wahls Warriors™. This year we have two tracks! If you are coming for the first time, we recommend the Wahls Protocol® Essentials Track. If you are a returning attendee, we recommend the Wahls Protocol® Advanced Track. These specialized tracks will offer information specific to where you are in your journey back to health and vitality.
We urge first-year attendees to choose the introductory track, which offers a detailed look at the various Wahls® Diet plans and how to implement them successfully, growing your internal motivation to adopt the Wahls Protocol®, and the skills you and your family need to sustain your commitment to the Wahls Protocol®.
If you have been to the seminar before, we suggest you choose the Advanced Track. This includes more information on the critical roles of hormones in autoimmunity and neurodegeneration. You will also learn about the latest research in autoimmune disorders and the microbiome.

What if everything messy and dirty in the world, the very things we thought we needed to control or eliminate to stay alive, are actually the very elements necessary for robust health? More people are chronically sick and medicated than ever before, suffering from conditions like ADHD, autism, food allergies, asthma, inflammatory bowel disease, and more. Yet the very things we are doing to keep them healthy may be contributing or even causing them to become sick. We’ve accepted chronic illness as the new normal. In her book The Dirt Cure, integrative pediatric neurologist and herbalist Dr. Maya Shetreat-Klein illustrates that we naturally have the capacity to be healthy and heal, and that our problem is that we have lost faith in the body’s own intelligence. Much of what we do to stay “healthy”—from medications like Tylenol and antibiotics, the bleach and Purell we use to sanitize, processed foods, to all the time spent trapped in offices or classrooms instead of exploring outdoors— are the very things that are making us sick. Yet it’s possible to reverse this process. The health of our inner terrain–our bodies– is a reflection of the health of our outer terrain, the world around us. In other words, our bodies and brains are only as healthy as the microbes we’re exposed to, our food and the soil in which our food is grows, and the parks, forests, and streams that surround us.
Maya Shetreat-Klein, MD is a neurologist, herbalist, urban farmer, and author of The Dirt Cure: Healthy Food, Healthy Gut, Happy Child (Simon and Schuster, 2016), which has been translated into ten languages. She has been featured in the New York Times, The Telegraph, NPR, Sky News, The Dr. Oz Show and many more. Board certified in adult and child neurology as well as pediatrics, Dr. Maya completed the University of Arizona’s Fellowship in Integrative Medicine, and now serves on their faculty. She works and studies with indigenous communities and healers in Ecuador. Abstract: It is estimated that 75-90% of visits to a primary care doctor are for stress related complaints and people who are unable to manage stress have a 40% high death rate than non-stressed individuals. The magnetic field of the heart is 5000 times more powerful than the field produced by the brain. The heart uses this bio-electromagnetic field, hormones and the nervous system to communicate with the brain and body.
Our emotions can impact the heart’s coherence and learning to regulate our emotions can reduce stress and improve hormones and our health.

Dr. Mangalam’s research program is focused on investigating role of gut microbiota in the health and diseases and use a bedside to bench to bedside approach to identify novel human gut derived commensal which can be used to treat patients with MS. We have shown that MS patients have gut dysbiosis and certain human gut bacteria has ability to modulate disease in a preclinical model (experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis-EAE) of MS. Current research in our lab is focused on understanding how certain bacteria can predispose to- or protect from disease. We have established all the tool and techniques required to successfully execute Human microbiome studies (sample collections, DNA extraction, library preparation, sequencing, and data analysis). Besides human microbiome analysis our laboratory is also utilizing Germ-free mice and conventional mice to determine the mechanism through which microbiome modulate host physiology especially immune response.
Multiple Sclerosis destroyed Dr. Wahls’ life, landing her in a tilt-recline wheelchair 24/7 and diminishing her ability to work and care for her family. After years of taking conventional medications that didn’t help, she leveraged her knowledge of the body and brain to create the Wahls Protocol®. Now she has her life back, enjoying health and vitality, able to engage fully in her work and family. She even rides her bike 5 miles to work each day!
Dr. Wahls is a clinical professor of medicine at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and conducts clinical research with a strong background in peer-reviewed published papers. The Health Professional Workshop on August 4th is designed specifically for health and medical professionals who would like to become Wahls Protocol® Certified Health Professionals.
This workshop builds on the seminar content of the previous 2 and a half days. It includes a discussion of electrical stimulation of muscles, low level laser therapy, and using the protocol to address neurodegeneration, including Parkinson’s and early cognitive decline.
Case-based learning will teach you how to implement the concepts taught during the Seminar and Retreat in your clinical practice. In addition, you will have access to additional clinical lectures on nutritional diagnosis, health coaching, and more that Dr. Wahls has given around the world.
The Wahls Protocol® offers patients a lifeline when conventional medicine has failed them. Medication after medication can slow and sometimes pause their symptoms but cannot reverse the course of autoimmune, neurodegenerative, obesity, fatty liver disease, or mental health problems. Most of these diseases are closely linked to diet and lifestyle. That is why the Wahls Protocol® is so effective at reducing pain and the need for prescription medication. If you suffer from any of the following conditions and are looking for a way to improve your health using non–pharmacologic based (non-drug) treatments, the Wahls Protocol® Seminar and Retreat is for you!
Many layperson attendees come to the Health Professional Workshop every year. We invite you to consider attending the Health Professional Workshop to round out your experience if your answer is yes to any of these questions:
Joining us for the Wahls Protocol Health Professional Workshop will give you the information to continue creating health in your own hero’s journey.
Dr. Wahls uses case-based teaching to reinforce the concepts covered during the Seminar and Retreat and ensure mastery.
