Dr. Wahls speaks on Fox 4 News about her experiences with multiple sclerosis and the development of the Wahls Protocol.

When conventional medicine failed to slow decline caused by MS, Dr. Wahls began doing her own research on autoimmune disease, brain biology, and Functional Medicine. From this research and her experience working with patients, she developed the Wahls Protocol, which is based on Functional Medicine, Paleo principles, and lifestyle changes such as exercise and stress management. The Wahls Protocol recommends consuming 9 cups of fruits and vegetables every day–3 cups of greens, 3 cups of sulfur-rich vegetables, and 3 cups of colors–as well as grass-fed meat, wild-caught fish, organ meat, and seaweed. In addition, she recommends lifestyle changes like exercise, limiting exposure to toxins, and managing stress. By correcting her own nutritional deficiencies with the Wahls Protocol, Dr. Wahls was able to reverse her decline and go from a tilt-recline wheelchair to riding her bike again.
