5.0 out of 5 stars Gives Me Hope, May 29, 2012

Three months ago, I was diagnosed with RRMS. Trying to understand my illness, I bought “MS for Dummies” and “The First Year.” Both those books sent me to bed for a week with despair and depression and the feeling that there was nothing I could do. But I got over that, and first read “The MS Recovery Diet,” which was an excellent read. Then, somehow I found out about Dr. Wahls and, though taken aback at the rather hefty price, bought her book.
At first, I agreed with a number of commentators here that the book was overpriced for what you got. And, essentially, it said essentially the same thing as the Recovery Diet and lots of other less pricy books.
But over the course of time, I’ve really come to appreciate this book and use it as a nearly-daily resource. I appreciate her scientific background and her explanation of her theory. I have begun to incorporate the dietary changes she recommends (good thing I really like kale) and now follow her websites and Facebook page. Most of all, I am grateful for the hope she gave me and like being able to actually do something proactively, rather than wait passively for the inevitable.
And that’s worth every penny I spent.
