You’re not lazy.

You’re not failing.

And you absolutely don’t need to follow the Wahls Protocol® perfectly to start feeling better.

I know this because I’ve lived it.

As a Health Practitioner certified in the Wahls Protocol®, and someone personally living with MS, I’ve had those days. The ones where the protocol feels like a mountain and I’m standing at the bottom with barely enough energy to lace up my shoes.

The meals I didn’t prep.

The supplements I forgot.

The stress I couldn’t shake.

The symptoms I swore I could’ve avoided if I’d just done it “right.”

But here’s the truth that changed everything for me — and might change everything for you too:

You only need to get 1% better today.

Not 100%. Not 50%. Just 1%.

I know, 1% feels small, but it adds up.

If you improve by just 1% each day, you’re 37 times better over the course of a year. That’s not just motivational fluff. It’s science. And more importantly, it’s sustainable.

The Myth of Perfection

The biggest mistake I see is this: “If I can’t follow the protocol perfectly, why bother at all?”

That all-or-nothing mindset doesn’t motivate us. It paralyzes us. It leaves you stuck in shame, constantly starting over, feeling like you’re failing at the very protocol that’s supposed to bring healing and hope.

Here’s something that I’ve reminded myself since day one of the Wahls Protocol®, your body needs you now, not when you’re “perfect.”

What Does 1% Look Like on the Wahls Protocol®?

Here’s what a 1% shift could look like on the Wahls Protocol®:

  • Drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning
  • Adding one more color to your plate
  • Sitting in the sun for five minutes
  • Lying down for a nap instead of pushing through fatigue
  • Identifying your favorite moment of the day each night

Small, but powerful.

Just like a plane shifting one degree mid-flight lands in a completely different city — these micro-adjustments can change your entire destination.

The Compound Effect in Healing

Look how these tiny, seemingly “insignificant” shifts can add up.

  • Going to bed 15 minutes earlier adds up to 91 extra hours of healing per year.
  • Taking a 3-minute walk after each meal equates to 54+ hours of gentle movement.
  • Adding just one extra vegetable daily equals 365 opportunities to help reduce inflammation.

Your effort is never wasted.

Your body is always listening.

And healing doesn’t require a complete lifestyle overhaul today — just a nudge in the right direction.

You’re Not Broken — You’re Just Overwhelmed

If you’ve felt stuck lately — like you want to follow the Wahls Protocol® but can’t seem to do it all — please hear this:

You are not weak.

You are not broken.

You are simply overwhelmed.

And overwhelm isn’t a flaw. It’s a cue. A cue to pause, breathe, and simplify.

Instead of asking, “How can I do it all?”

Try asking, “What’s my next 1%?”

Then do just that.

Tomorrow? Do another.

Because healing doesn’t require perfection.

It just needs direction.
