Patient Advocacy & Beyond LLC
I worked as a bedside nurse at large hospitals (Critical Care, Oncology, Med-Surg, Hospice), and as a home health case manager. After realizing I cannot really advocate for the patients as long as I work for a medical institution, I ended up starting my own private patient advocacy practice.
My job encompasses a wide range of activities/services, but it’s been mainly patient education, improving communication and decision-making with the providers, and care coordination. While I can usually help clients with acute medical conditions, a good portion of people who approach me seem to have autoimmune or/and neurological issues, and I’ve been struggling to just find a good doctor who can help them! Because they are suffering so much, I’ve been doing everything I could (e.g., doing my own little research on holistic interventions) but realized I must acquire systematic knowledge and skills in order to really help them.
